Clipset Bluetooth Headset ($TBA)

Designed by Matthias Lange, the Clipset was created as a comfortable and stylish antidote to more masculine Blueetooth headsets. While other common headsets often affect the appearance of the user in a very technical way, the Clipset is all about the chic. If it’s currently not in use the earphone could be wrapped around the device. The interface consists of three buttons. Two buttons for volume control and one power button that is also used to answer incoming calls.

This is certainly a sleeker option than the pulse bicycle safety helmet, which comes with a bluetooth receiver so you don’t have to hold a cell phone or mp3 player while you’re riding your bike. However, it does still entail having a large dangling receiver from your neck.

Samsung L700 ($TBA)

The latest offering from Samsung, the L700 digital camera is a 7 megapixel camera with 5 x optical zoom. It comes with a 2.3 inch LCD and ISO sensitivity of up to 1600 which is pretty impressive. It supports memory cards such as SD and SDHC to complement its paltry internal memory of 20 mb.

As most digital cameras, it captures video in 640 x 480 at 30 fps. It is a compact camera with no real weak points apart from its poor low light focusing and over exposure under bright light. It is a good investment for both beginners and amateurs alike. The picture quality is reasonably good. Although its style is not as stylish and elegant as the latest Samsung models, it does perform exceptionally well for its category. It will be a camera that I will highly recommend for buyers who are interested. No price announcements are available but it will definitely be a great buy.

Radia cellphone concept

Nowadays fashion returns to its roots, to simple, yet sophisticated design. You don’t need annoying details anymore and I won’t speak about usability. Any children can use one today. The battle is fought by producers in luxury and design department. For the first time function follows form, and Radia, a cellphone concept, manages to illustrate that greatly.

First time you look at it you think it’s just a lens with an outer brushed aluminum rim, but pressing it slightly reveals a transparent touchscreen display, large enough to display all the informations needed by the user. Michael Laut, the author, managed to keep size small enough and used some ingenious speaker and microphone placings, around the LED lit power button. The only thing that doesn’t cut is the fact that there’s a big chance this design will only exist on someone’s harddrive.

Tango Wings UMPC ($643 and $857 with GPS)

If Sungju Computer's upcoming Tango Wings UMPC looks exactly like the Medion device or Gigabyte U60, it's because they're actually all one and the same (and you remember that they're all Arima UM650 units, right?). Like the Medion and Gigabyte, this "new" UMPC has Vista Home Premium, 1GHz VIA C7-M, 30GB HDD, up to 768MB of RAM, 802.11b/g, Bluetooth 2.0, and an SD card slot.

It's difficult to make out in the picture, but that's the word "Wings" printed below the 6.5" WVGA (800 x 480) display. And as far as I can tell, Tango is to Sungju the way Vaio is to Sony. So this is just the newest addition to the Korean company's Tango PC family, which already includes the Tango Mini, Tango Mini Duo, and Tango Cocktail.

Beginning on April 23rd, the Tango Wings can be (pre?)ordered from GS e-shop for about $643 (without GPS module) and $857 (with GPS). The pricing doesn't really seem right to me, but unless Babel Fish and Google Translate are conspiring against prospective UMPC buyers in Korea, I'm assuming it's accurate.

Jaguar C-XF ($TBA)

The Jaguar C-XF Concept due to be unveiled at the 2007 Detroit Auto Show is a preview of the Jaguar S-Type successor, named the Jaguar XF.

The Jaguar C-XF concept was designed by Ian Callum, also responsible for the latest Aston Martin's and the latest Jaguar XK.

The Jaguar C-XF concept is almost unrecognisable as a Jaguar product, so different is the new design direction for the company. A large rectangular grille flanked by two slit-like headlights dominates the front of the vehicle, while the bulging bonnet hints at the capabilities of the potent 4.2 litre V8 beneath, a unit which produces 420 horsepower and is capable of propelling the C-XF at 180 mph. Theoretically.

From the side view the Jaguar C-XF Concept shares a similar profile to the Aston Martin Rapide Concept, both are high-performance 4-door coupes.

Inside the Jaguar C-XF Concept the occupants sit in a cockpit, with the high-mounted, aluminum centre console flowing around them. There are four individual sports seats, with enough room in the rear for a pair of six foot adults.

The cabin of the Jaguar C-XF Concept offers a reinterpretation of the classic wood and leather themes. Carbon fiber-pattern leather is used in partnership with semi-aniline hide on the seats. Elements of the doors and transmission tunnel have been carved from Poplar wood and then scorched to create a satin feel.

All concept cars have unusual features, gimmicks, but these are part of the reason concept cars are so interesting. The Jaguar C-XF is no exception. Upon entering the driver’s seat the Power button pulses on the centre console, representing the ‘heartbeat’ of the C-XF. Push the button and concentric rings withdraw to leave the gear selector in your hand. At the same time, beams of blue light emanate from the instrument panel and the front grille, marking the moment at which the engine is brought to life. Jaguar want this series of events to make the C-XF Concept feel as if it is coming alive. Although it is highly unlikely this system will make it to production.

Canovo Dual Touch Screen Notebook

The Italian design firm V12 has recently introduced its Canovo dual-screen notebook/tablet concept, which features two display units.

One of these touch-screens can be used as an additional display, but also as a fully functional and customizable keyboard. Currently, there are no working sample and specifications of this concept computer.

“V12 design has developed the concept and the design of the Canova Notebook nearly two years ago. The project captured the attention of a European computer manufacturer and together with its Taiwanese sister company, they started the development of the electronics. The complexity of the fully custom made electronic components has slowed down the development of the product as a whole, ” managing director of V12 Design Valerio Cometti said.

Asus Aura Cellphone Concept ($TBA)

While not widely acknowledged, introduction of Apple iPhone seems to have sent a shockwave throughout cellphone industry and left major vendors scrambling to produce their own answer to it.

Only LG seems to have had something at least a little bit similar to iPhone with their LG Prada KE850 phone. Other vendors were left churning out the concept phones on YouTube.

And here’s another concept phone - Asus Aura, produced by Hungarian design company Egy Studio for Taiwanese vendor. It was clearly inspired by iPhone, although it has some interesting innovations addressing commonly mentioned shortcomings of Apple’s cellphone.

One of them is a movable navigation module with navigation buttons, another - a sliding QWERTY keyboard that should make text entry much easier.

Other features of Asus Aura include - 3,9″ touchscreen covering the whole surface of the phone, 2 megapixel camera, microSD memory card slot, GSM, UMTS, HSDPA, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. All of this in a 6mm thick package.

Unfortunately Asus Aura is just a concept so far and will stay that way probably a few years.

With the dimensions of 97×49x6mm and total volume of 28 cc, Asus aura is several times smaller then what current HSDPA chipsets allow to be. But with Moore’s law and competition among communication chip makers in full swing, who knows? We might see it sooner.
